Outreach

Outreach ministries are important to Friedens. Whether it’s Winter Carnival, our annual Pot Pie supper, or our winter clothing drive, Friedens is committed to being a good neighbor here in Shartlesville.

Winter Carnival is our largest outreach ministry and began as an opportunity to invite the community to see the new Christian education building, constructed in 2007. Nearly a decade later, Winter Carnival is still an opportunity for families to come have some low-budget Christmas fun with many games, a raffle, Santa visits, rides, music, and more. Winter Carnival takes place on the first Saturday of December.

Throughout the year, Friedens is host to many fundraising dinners, including a Chicken BBQ, soup and bake sale, and a homemade Pot Pie supper. These are annual events and will be advertised on the main page.

Our Advocacy Ministry is busy throughout the year, organizing events to support those in our community who are in need. In late October each year, we host a winter clothing drive, where we give away clean, lightly used winter clothing for all ages. For Harvest Home Sunday in October, a noisy offering is collected for the food bank in Hamburg, and again at Super Bowl time. Other Advocacy events include a spring Blood Drive and donations of non-perishable food items for the food bank in Bethel.

Several years ago, when one of Friedens’ youth was diagnosed with cancer, her friends rallied around her to create Megan’s Mudder, a fun-run to raise money for her medical expenses. This event has been held annually in May, and now that Megan is in remission, supports other youth who are struggling with health issues.

Just-For-Fun ministry also hosts an annual Valentine’s day dinner for the community.
We are grateful for so many creative and joyful community-mindful leaders who organize our outreach ministries.
